Barracuda Lake, Coron, Palawan

The Barracuda Lake is beyond beautiful and bewitching! Although we did not spot any creepy looking Barracuda fish, the Barracuda Lake is one of the most beautiful lakes that is a must see and experience when going to Coron, Palawan, Philippines.

The boat tour guides brought us first to the entrance  of the lake which was picturesque by itself. The rock limestone formation is lined with a wooden bridge that the villagers made just for visitors. You will see a small hut by the entrance where I call the “guardians of the islands” chill out and receive their entrance fees from visitors and tour guides.

Just a small trek of about fifty steps up and then down the wooden bridge, you will find yourself viewing a stunning and magnificent view that will make you not want to leave. There will be a few tourists if you’re lucky but the tour guide coordinators do a pretty good job not over packing the area.

Bring your snorkel gear, fins, or even dive down the divine blue green water and feel warm and cold at the same time. This lake is a thermo halocline where the water temperature rapidly rises from 27°C to 38°C. You will also notice the crazy rock formations under water that follows to the deep mysterious drop where you can no longer see the ocean floor or wall limestone formations.

We visited early March and the weather was perfect. The sun was out during the day and it was cooler at night. Watch the full video by clicking the picture below:
